Our Sun Must Rise

The sun sneaks up,
Peeking out over the edge of the Earth;
Another day about to give birth
To another sunrise;
A burst of sudden light and color-
Saphire blue, silver and gold,
Magenta over mellow tones of orange.
Oh, what this vision is worth!
A hundred rainbows?

A thousand lifetimes and more.
A medley of color and sound
Arising on the wings of morning.
Reborn the awakening creatures
Upon a new day's glory.
Pigments of color, swirling,
All shades and hues,
Edges kissing, joining, melding;
Mesmerizing beauty,
An infinite dazzling ocean

Proclaiming hope, forgiveness, unity.
A new day blooms before us all,
Its blossoms there for us to wish upon,
That this new day may bring
yet another sunrise for us to see.
Another chance to begin anew.
Oh, the weight beneath which
Our sun must rise!
